Kyrie Andrew Irving was born on March 23, 1992, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, to American parents Drederick and Elizabeth Irving. His father, Drederick, was a standout basketball player at Boston University and played professionally in Australia for the Bulleen Boomers. Kyrie's mother, Elizabeth, was a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The family relocated to the United States when Kyrie was two years old, settling in West Orange, New Jersey. Tragically, his mother passed away when he was four, and he was subsequently raised by his father with support from his extended family. Kyrie has two sisters, Asia and London. He holds dual citizenship in Australia and the United States. ​

High School and College Career

Irving's basketball journey gained momentum at Montclair Kimberley Academy in New Jersey, where he showcased his skills before transferring to St. Patrick High School, a program known for producing elite basketball talent.
